International confirmation camps 2027
In Finland, confirmation training is a longstanding part of Lutheran youth work. Felm and LNK—the Finnish Association for Children and Youth—organise international confirmation camps for young people from Finland and other countries.
The camps are held in Finnish and English at the Päiväkumpu Camp Centre in Orivesi, Finland. They bring together young people from different countries and backgrounds, providing opportunities for cultural exchange and new friendships.
The programme combines learning, discussion and reflection with music, free time and a wide range of activities. Participants explore Christian faith, mission and global responsibility while reflecting on their own lives and values.
Preparation begins around six months before the camp and includes written assignments and contact with the participant’s home parish or a local Lutheran parish. Each camp concludes with a bilingual confirmation service attended by the participants’ families and friends.

Youth sustainability group
Do you want to help shape a sustainable future for people and the planet—and inspire others to take action? Felm’s youth sustainability group brings together young people who want to learn, develop their advocacy skills and turn ideas into action. The group’s membership is an opportunity to connect with others, explore solutions and make your voice heard on issues that matter.
The group started in April 2026 and will continue until the end of 2028. You can apply individually or together with your parish youth council or another parish youth group. The aim is to continue the group’s work beyond its initial term.
The group is part of a global education project funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. It increases awareness on sustainable development and the effects of the climate change in Finland and in the countries where Felm and its partners work. The group also cooperates with a youth climate resilience project launched in Cambodia in 2026, giving participants opportunities to connect with young people beyond Finland.
How does the group work?
The group meets online about once a month for 1.5–2 hours, and also gathers for in-person meetings in Finland. Time needs to be also allocated for independent learning, assignments, and preparing their local initiative. The group’s facilitator provides support throughout the process.
The main working language is Finnish, with English and Swedish used when needed. Participation is free, and Felm covers the costs of taking part.
Who can join?
You can apply if you take part in a parish youth council or another form of youth activity, want to learn and work with others. Applicants under the age of 18 need permission from a parent or guardian. Participants should also discuss joining the group with a youth worker or another employee in their local parish. Volunteering at Päiväkumpu
Spend part of your summer volunteering at Päiväkumpu. You can stay from a few days to several weeks while helping Felm’s confirmation camps and other events run smoothly.
Päiväkumpu is Felm’s lakeside camp and training centre in Eräslahti, Orivesi, on the shore of Lake Längelmävesi. It hosts confirmation and youth camps, courses, training programmes and other events throughout the year.
Volunteers—known locally as volut—welcome guests, support the centre’s daily work and help create Päiväkumpu’s friendly summer atmosphere. The experience combines practical work with life in a community that prays, reads the Bible and has fun together. It also offers space to pause, reflect on life, and meet new people.
Tasks vary according to the centre’s needs. They may include cleaning, gardening, ironing church robes, moving equipment and helping prepare camps and events. During the annual Riihis youth camp in August, volunteers take responsibility for many of the camp’s practical arrangements.
Volunteers usually work for around six to seven hours a day. The daily rhythm also includes morning prayer, shared Bible reading and an evening devotion in the Riihikirkko chapel.
Päiväkumpu provides accommodation and meals throughout the volunteer period. Volunteers normally pay their own travel expenses, although financial assistance may be available when needed. Felm can also provide a written certificate of volunteer service on request.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. There is no upper age limit, although most participants are young adults between the ages of 18 and 30.
