Felm offers broad thematic expertise, strong local partnerships and extensive practical experience in consortium-based and multi-partner delivery, including the management of publicly funded programmes across several countries.
Felm’s approach is human rights-based, inclusive, and locally led, with particular emphasis on the inclusion of women, girls and persons with disabilities, as well as on climate resilience and just peace.
Cross-cutting objectives
Across all our work worldwide, we integrate gender justice, disability inclusion and the rights of persons with disabilities. These are Felm’s two cross-cutting objectives.
1. Gender justice
Many people continue to face discrimination, harmful gender norms and unequal opportunities to participate in decision-making because of their gender. Gender justice goes beyond equal access to resources: it requires transforming the norms, relationships, and power structures that shape people’s lives.
For Felm, gender justice is a shared mission rooted in the belief that all people are created in the image of God and possess equal dignity. Our work is guided both by Christian faith and by international human rights principles, including the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).
Felm works with its partners to promote meaningful participation, safety, and inclusion for people of all genders. Through dialogue and partnership, we support locally grounded processes that address the root causes of inequality and strengthen dignity, rights, and agency.
Our approach is transformative and intersectional. We pay particular attention to those who are most marginalised, recognising that gender inequality often intersects with other forms of discrimination, including disability, poverty, or ethnicity.
2. Disability inclusion and the rights of persons with disabilities
Felm promotes the rights, inclusion and full and meaningful participation of persons with disabilities and their representative organisations across all areas of our work and within our own organisation. Our work is grounded in a human rights-based approach and the principles of equality, dignity and non-discrimination.
Our work is aligned with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), which recognises persons with disabilities as rights-holders, active agents of change and full participants in society. We work to ensure that persons with disabilities understand and can claim their rights, and that duty-bearers fulfill their obligations.
Persons with disabilities often face barriers to education, decision-making, and participation in church life because of discrimination, harmful attitudes, and inaccessible environments. Felm works to remove these barriers and promote equal and meaningful participation on an equal basis with others, ensuring that no one is left behind.
We believe that meaningful change happens when persons with disabilities are at the centre of decision-making. Felm therefore promotes their leadership and participation at every level, from local communities to national and global advocacy.
