Felm has worked in Colombia since 1989. Despite the 2016 peace agreement between the government and FARC, armed groups continue to abuse civilians, and many communities have limited opportunities to influence decisions or monitor implementation of the agreement.
Church leadership and peacebuilding
Felm supports the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Colombia in its holistic mission. The church develops theological education, young people’s leadership and a Lutheran identity rooted in the Colombian context.
Its peace work includes training, psychosocial support, dialogue and legal advice. Communities also develop sustainable livelihoods and work with public and private actors to improve basic services and infrastructure.
Education, rights and climate resilience
The church works with Indigenous communities to develop curricula and teaching materials based on their own languages and cultures. Literacy education expands opportunities for Indigenous young people and adults.
Together with the Lutheran World Federation, Felm supports people injured by landmines through rehabilitation, psychosocial care, livelihood assistance and advocacy training. Mine-risk education helps prevent further accidents.
In communities along the Quito River, local people combine biodiversity protection, community-led planning and sustainable livelihoods to respond to climate change and conflict.

Felm’s partners are the Lutheran World Federation and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Colombia (IELCO). The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland funds Felm’s development cooperation in Colombia.
