Civil war has weakened education, livelihoods and security across Myanmar. The military coup in 2021 halted the country’s brief democratic transition and deepened poverty, displacement and humanitarian need.
Felm works with local churches and organisations to help communities respond to crises, promote peace and protect learning opportunities for children and young people.
Learning in difficult circumstances
Scholarships, further training for teachers and the development of inclusive education help children continue their studies. Ethnic communities in different parts of the country produce learning materials and educational approaches suited to their own languages and cultures.
The work also improves opportunities for children and adults with disabilities through education, vocational training and emergency support.
Support for peace
By supporting actors involved in Myanmar’s peace process, Felm contributes to efforts towards a negotiated peace and broad-based reconciliation. Local organisations build cooperation and help people participate in shaping the future of their communities.

Felm’s local partners are the Federation of Lutheran Churches in Myanmar, Euro-Burma Office (EBO), Eden Centre for Disabled Children (ECDC) and Language and Social Development Organization (LSDO).
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland supports Felm’s development cooperation in Myanmar.
