Felm began working in Zimbabwe in 2014. It supports the Gwai Grandmothers Group and the Zimbabwe Council of Churches in practical child protection, advocacy, peace and social justice.
Grandmothers stand beside children
Lutheran grandmothers’ groups in the Gwai area help meet children’s basic needs. They support school attendance, offer emotional care and organise leisure activities. Children also learn gardening, poultry keeping and other practical skills.
The grandmothers advocate for children with government officials, pastors, teachers and health workers, helping local services respond more effectively.
Dialogue, peace and justice
The Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) plays an important role in national dialogue. Together with churches and other actors, it works for economic justice, democracy, peace and reconciliation.
The Lutheran Communion in Southern Africa (LUCSA) also works with churches in Zimbabwe on worship, gender justice and a locally rooted Lutheran identity.
