- Justice
- Responsibility
At the heart of our strategy
- Churches and people living in fragile contexts or vulnerable situations are at the heart of Felm’s work. In practice, we work alongside Lutheran minority churches and marginalized people. Through this cooperation, churches carry out their mission and communities build sustainable and thriving futures.
- We work in close cooperation with our partners, most of which are churches and organisations in the countries where Felm works.
- Our work is human rights-based, inclusive, and locally led. This means that it advances human rights and equality and combats discrimination. The people involved in the work and our partners shape it according to their priorities and needs.
- The Evangelical Lutheran parishes in Finland are Felm’s owners, decision-makers and members. A defining feature of Felm is that it is the parishes’ own organisation. Our strategy reinforces this connection. Felm helps parishes fulfil their missionary calling in accordance with the Church’s strategy.
Strategic priorities
Our strategy identifies six priorities on which we focus and which we seek to develop:
- Outreach work and evangelism
- Theological education, diakonia and church leadership
- Local actors taking a leading role in peacebuilding and reconciliation
- Climate justice and sustainable solutions to the climate crisis
- The specific educational needs of children and young people
- Advocacy based on local expertise
Priorities in Finland
In Finland, our priorities are:
- interaction and trust between parishes and Felm
- church employees’ and volunteers’ commitment to mission and their readiness to advocate for it
- people’s participation in mission-related activities
- young people’s and young adults’ interest in missionary work
