Inclusive education for children and young people is one of Felm’s key priorities, with particular attention to those whose rights are most at risk of being left unrealised.
Climate resilience and climate justice are central to Felm’s current and future programme priorities. The work includes adaptation and preparedness, mitigation where relevant, climate advocacy and assistance for communities most affected by climate-related risks and crises.
Local peacebuilding and reconciliation are priorities in Felm’s work. Local peacebuilders take part in dialogue processes that connect community-level action with wider peace efforts.
Humanitarian preparedness and response form part of Felm’s current priorities. The emphasis is on locally led preparedness, timely emergency assistance and recovery through long-term partners and established humanitarian standards.
Rights-based advocacy and policy influence are crucial parts of Felm’s work. Felm and its local partners address structural barriers, advance rights, influence decision-making and promote change at local, national and international levels.
Disability inclusion and gender justice are cross-cutting priorities across Felm’s work. Local ownership, sustainability and accountability are also built into programme design and implementation.
Current funding interests
Felm’s funding interests evolve in response to priorities identified by local partners, changes in the operating environment and available funding opportunities. Felm is currently seeking support particularly in the following areas:
- Nepal: women’s and persons with disabilities’ economic empowerment through enterprise development
- Cambodia: inclusive education, sustainable energy and the empowerment of persons with disabilities through advocacy
- Myanmar and Colombia: peacebuilding and reconciliation
- Ethiopia: disability mainstreaming in the national education system and environment-related work
- Tanzania: gender and women’s rights, environment and education
- Zimbabwe: environmental work
- Across contexts: local innovation
How we work with funders
Felm works with funders through programme funding, project-based support, consortium collaboration, core support and other models aligned with its strategic priorities and partnership-based approach.
Depending on the context, funding may support a thematic priority, a country-specific initiative, a multi-partner programme or locally led innovation. Cooperation may relate to development cooperation, peacebuilding and reconciliation, humanitarian preparedness, rights-based advocacy or cross-cutting priorities such as disability inclusion, gender justice and climate resilience.
